| INFO |
Born in Pembroke, Ontario, Shannon Venasse moved to Toronto when she was 21 years old.
As far back as she can remember she's always had a passion for music of all kinds - although she didn't start playing the guitar until she was 23. Starting where most singer/songwriters do, learning cover songs, she quickly discovered her voice. Over the years Shannon has been complimented by many people about her unique and passionate singing voice. Invited to have a small part in a play called "3 Women" at the Hamilton Fringe Festival, Shannon discovered how enjoyable it is to play live for an audience. She quickly began writing her own songs and found playing those live to be even more satisfying again. Her first few attempts were quite compelling for having zero experience with song writing. It wasn't until Shannon quit her job and embarked on a road trip across Canada and the United States that some very radio friendly songs started to surface. Upon her return Shannon continued to write until she had a library of over 25 songs. It was then she decided to start recording. Shannon later met Kenny MacLean the former keyboardist/bassist from the popular 80's band PLATINUM BLONDE. He heard her demo and said he was impressed with her catchy yet deep songs and also with her strong singing voice. Kenny recorded two songs for Shannon at his home studio to give the then, rookie musician, an idea of his style. Kenny is a very talented pop producer. Shannon finished her debut album 'The Lion's Share' in October 2007 with Ashton Price from Morph Productions and is currently living in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Music is Shannon's life and true love, she performs regularly and is always writing new material. The goal for her music career remains driven yet simple... play play play. |
